1225 W Melrose, Chicago, IL
In mid-September, 2009 my son Joe, wife Becky, & I made a road-trip to Chicago from his home in Indiana to visit the address where I was living in 1962 before I took the long train ride to the American Home Finding Association in Ottumwa, IA. Joe was preparing to move to Maryland and this would be our last opportunity to be close to Chicago to make this venture. Joe’s field office was in Chicago, so he was quite familiar with the City of Chicago which made things much easier than for me to try and locate this address on my own.
What I was surprised to find out is that 1225 W Melrose was only around 3 blocks from Wrigley Field in Chicago!!
Here are a few pictures that we took while we were there. I took a few minutes to talk to a resident of the area to ask if she remembered our family living there, however she had no recollection of our being in that row house in 1962.
You may also take note of the comment that was made on the Release of the Bush Children post indicating that I attended a Catholic school while living in Chicago. We took a few minutes to drive through the neighborhood and I located two Catholic schools in the area. I have no recollection of which one that I attended, but I have to believe that it would have been one of these two schools. The pictures of the schools are at the end of the slideshow.
