I spent some time locating a picture of my biological mom and finally located it on a website for the Iowa School for the Blind which is now IESBVI (Iowa Educational Services for Visually Impaired Iowans) located in Vinton Iowa. A private school for the blind was established in Keokuk, Iowa in 1852, making it the second oldest educational institution in Iowa. The school was moved to Iowa City in 1853.
